Wine Farms
No stay in Constantia is complete without visiting the beautiful wine farms that are dotted throughout the suburb. Whether it’s a wine tasting, a leisurely lunch or a picnic with the kids, there’s a wine farm that will cater to your every need. Some of our favourites include Beau Constantia, Constantia Glen, Buitenverwachting (a must for a picnic with the whole family), Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Steenberg Farm (if you’re a golfer, Steenberg Golf Club should be on your bucket list too) and Constantia Uitsig.
Restaurants
Eating out in Constantia is an absolute dream because you are completely spoilt for choice. If you’re looking for award-winning fine dining, you’re in luck because La Colombe (voted in the World’s 50 Best in 2023) is just around the corner. If elegant dining is your thing, you’ll also want to visit The Conservatory at The Cellars-Hohenort, Foxcroft, Tryn at Steenberg Farm and Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia. For a more laid-back experience, why not try La Parada Constantia Nek, Jonkershuis or Simon’s (both at Groot Constantia) or Bistro Sixteen82. If you’re looking for a great breakfast to start your day, you can’t go wrong with The Blockhouse at Constantia Uitsig or Chardonnay Deli.
Things To Do With The Kids
Keeping the kids busy will be easy during your stay because there’s a world of entertainment on your doorstep. A really great place to visit is Constantia Uitsig because there is just so much to do. First up is The Bike Park. Suitable for all ages and skill levels, the whole family can have a day of fun riding the tracks. There is also a jungle gym area next to the courtyard at The Blockhouse, so you can enjoy breakfast and a cup of coffee while the kids run and explore. To end off your visit, you can head to Kirsten’s Kick Ass Ice Cream for a sweet treat. Other fun things to do include visiting the ducks at Groot Constantia or walking along the river in the greenbelt. If it’s warm, the kids can splash around in the river too.
Places To Explore
While there is much to do in Constantia, you’re also close enough to other wonderful Cape Town attractions to explore them too. A visit to Hout Bay is a must, especially if you stop off for some fish and chips. A day at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is a day well spent, filled with interesting things to see and tasty treats to eat at the restaurant. The cable car up Table Mountain is a fun day out, and a drive along the coast (with a stop for ice cream along the way) is a lovely way to see the beauty of Cape Town. The V&A Waterfront has amazing shops and restaurants, as well as the Two Oceans Aquarium, which the kids will love. And let’s not even mention the gorgeous beaches that run along the coastline.
